Leading by Design: Victoria’s Vision in Action

From her first visit to campus, Victoria Talarico knew Marywood was the place where her creativity, ambition, and leadership would thrive. Drawn by the University’s collaborative architecture program, leadership opportunities, and the close-knit women's soccer team, Victoria found a home five hours from her own. “Marywood seemed like a place where I could take on leadership roles and start the initiatives I wanted to see,” she reflects.

Supported by scholarships and financial aid, Victoria embraced every opportunity to grow—both inside and outside the studio. She has earned a 3.89 institutional GPA (3.92 in the School of Architecture), received multiple studio awards, and was nominated for the Tau Sigma Delta and inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies. But for Victoria, one of her proudest accomplishments has been building the Women in Architecture and Design student chapter from the ground up. “We created a space where women in our field could connect, share experiences, and network with professionals. Seeing it grow to over 30 members has been amazing.”

Victoria is deeply involved on campus—serving as President of WIAD, Vice President of NOMAS, Vice President and four-year representative on the School of Architecture Student Council, a student ambassador, and a member of the Marywood women’s soccer team from 2021–2023. She’s also made her mark on policy, serving on the School of Architecture’s Studio Culture Policy Revision Board to help shape a better academic environment for future students.

Among the most important lessons she’s learned at Marywood? “To trust myself,” she says. “Architecture teaches you to defend your ideas. That forced me to believe in my voice and stand confidently behind my work. It’s a skill I carry into all parts of my life.”

Victoria’s goals for the next five years include pursuing licensure as an architect and continuing to grow in the field. She credits her professors for helping her prepare, from building her portfolio to inviting guest professionals to speak on campus. “I’ve been supported in ways that go far beyond the classroom,” she says.

To the donors who make experiences like hers possible, Victoria offers heartfelt thanks: “Your donations aren’t just financial—they’re personal. They’ve allowed me to grow with access to resources, tools, and mentorship that truly make a difference. I hope to give back in the same way one day.”

As she looks toward graduation, Victoria knows the moment will be one of deep gratitude and pride. “I’ll feel proud of the work I’ve done and grateful for the people and experiences that helped me get there. I’ll walk across that stage feeling ready—and excited—for what’s next.”
