The Marywood University Aquatics Center is one of the premier swimming and diving facilities in Northeast Pennsylvania, and home to the University’s 15th and 16th intercollegiate teams—Men’s and Women's Swimming and Diving. The facility also provides recreation and competitive opportunities for the campus community as well as regional schools and organizations.

Dedicated on April 15, 2011, the Aquatics Center represents the third phase of a $25 million expansion of the Marywood University Athletics and Recreation program facilities. The Aquatics Center adds 17,000 square feet of competitive and recreational space to the 67,000-square foot Center for Athletics and Wellness, which opened in 2006.

Swimming and Diving team members were joined in the opening dedication swim by Hans Schierling (above), husband of Marywood University Trustee, Toni Schierling. Toni and Hans made one of the first capital commitments to the interior of the Aquatics Center by naming a lane in the new swimming pool. The families of Marywood University Director of Athletics & Recreation Dr.  Mary Jo Gunning and former Vice President for Student Life Dr. Raymond P. Heath also have lanes named after them. Hans Schierling joined the student swimmers by swimming in the lane he and Mrs. Schierling dedicated - known now as the “Schierling Bahn.” ("Bahn" is German for “Road.”)
