Residence Halls Closures – Plan Ahead!

University Housing is closed during the following University breaks:

  • Thanksgiving Break
  • End of the Fall Semester Closing (Winter Break)
  • Spring Break
  • Easter Break
  • End of the Spring Semester Closing (Completion of the Academic Year)

Please refer to the University calendar for exact closure dates.

Residents of all on-campus housing are expected to vacate during these break periods according to the schedule published by Housing and Residence Life. Dining Services are not provided during this time period; and any student granted an exception to stay on campus is responsible for securing their own meals.

The University is closed during the time period between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. All residents must vacate University Housing for this time period. This means that no students will be allowed to stay in University Housing during the period between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.

Any student who wishes to apply to remain in Housing during break periods must complete the Break Housing Request form in eRezLife.

Requests to remain on campus over the break period will only be approved for University-related reasons. Requests to remain on campus to work on ongoing course work and/or projects assigned at the start of the semester do not constitute a required University-related purpose and will not be approved. Please note that, as per the Housing Agreement, your room and board fee does not include periods when the University is closed. Residents who are staying in University Housing during Break periods for required University-related purposes (and which have been approved) will not be billed.

Card access records will be reviewed after the break period. Unauthorized students, (students who were not approved to stay over the break period) that are found to have accessed the residence halls may be subject to break housing fees and/or conduct charges.
