While we prepare for you to join us on campus there are a few things that you need to do as well.

• All Students MUST sign the Housing Agreement prior to move-in.
  

• All residential students MUST be financially cleared by Student Accounts.

To be Financially Cleared you must have a balance of  $2,000.00 or less.

For some, this means accepting all your loans in the portal, enrolling in a payment plan, or making a payment on your student account.

In order to avoid any disruptions to your move in process please contact the Student Accounts Office at 570-348-6212 or Financial Aid at 570-348-6225 to discuss your account.

• All residential students MUST be cleared by Student Health Services.

To be cleared by Student Health Services students need documentation of 2 MMR vaccines, the meningitis vaccine and a physical exam dated within one calendar year of your enrollment date.

All documents are to be uploaded by the student, to the Student Health Portal.  

• All residential students MUST be Registered full-time.

Students must be registered full-time in order to live in on-campus housing. Full-time status requires 12 credits for undergraduate students and 6 credits for graduate students.

1. Visit Submit Maintenance Request Page.
2. Select the area of campus in which you would like to report a maintenance issue (i.e. Madonna Hall, Loughran Hall, Woodland Residences, etc.) by clicking on the “+” sign to the right of the selected area. 
3. You will see a dropdown list like the one below. Please log into Tofino using the link and designated CLIENT ID, USERNAME, and PASSWORD for the selected area.
4. After logging into Tofino, you should see the following screen. This is where you will submit your work request.
5. Create a “Title” for your work request.
6. Select the location for the maintenance issue from the dropdown menu.
7. Select “BUILDING” from the Asset Category dropdown menu.
8. Select the building from the Asset dropdown menu.
9. Include a description of the maintenance issue. Please be as specific as possible!
10. In the "Created By" box on the righthand side, please delete what is already in the box and add your name.
11. In the "Email" box on the righthand side, please delete what is already in the box and add your Marywood University email address.
12. When completed, your work order should look like the image below.
13. When you have completed filling out the work order form, please click “Save and New”, the blue button on the bottom righthand side of the page.
14. You should receive a confirmation email via your Marywood email address shortly after your work order has been submitted.

New residents will receive move-in instructions upon receipt of their room assignments from Housing & Residence Life.

Move-In Day

• Campus Safety, Orientation staff, and Housing and Residence Life staff will direct you as you arrive.
• Students can retrieve their ID cards inside the building and volunteers will start to unload your vehicle.
• The driver must stay in the vehicle. Once fully unloaded, the driver will be directed to a parking lot.
• In general, lofting or bunking beds will not be permitted.

University personnel will not adjust bed heights during check-in or throughout the school year.

If a student receives mail for personal reasons, such as medication delivery, they can speak to the staff at the Marywood Post office.

Policy: All unmarried, full-time students are required to reside in University housing during their first two years of enrollment, unless they are at least 21 years of age and/or living with their parents or guardians in their primary family homes, within a 45-mile radius of the University's campus.

Students who don’t participate in selection process, but are required to live on-campus, will be notified of their assignment and meal plan at the conclusion of the housing selection process.

All Residential Students residing in undergraduate housing are required to purchase a Meal Plan.

Each resident is provided with a dresser/chest, desk and chair, bed and mattress (long twin), closet/wardrobe.

Fire safety requirements prohibit cooking in the residence halls except in the kitchenettes designed for such use. Free standing microwaves are not permitted in residence hall rooms.

Students may opt to arrange to rent or purchase a MicroFridge through mymicrofridge.com.

MicroFridges are designed to limit energy consumption because the refrigerator turns off when the microwave is in operation, and vice versa.

Student owned mini-refrigerators are permitted in residence hall rooms as long as specifications are less than or equal to the MicroFridge specifications. Mini-refrigerators that exceed these specifications are prohibited.

Laundry is included in your Room and Board, students do not need to pay for Laundry. All residence Halls have Laundry facilities.

Occasionally, roommates face conflicts. When these conflicts cannot be resolved solely between the students, the Housing and Residence Life staff is available to provide mediation and support. If a conflict cannot be resolved between the students, they are encouraged to speak with their Resident Assistant. The Resident Assistant may then facilitate a mediation session with all involved parties.

The goal of mediation is for the individuals involved to discuss their concerns and determine the best course of action. In many cases, students participating in this neutral communication setting are able to make compromises and resolve their concerns. If not, the Residence Director may become involved to determine whether a room change is appropriate.

Roommate issues can sometimes result in room changes. However, students must first attempt to resolve the conflict through peer-to-peer communication and participate in at least one roommate mediation session facilitated by the RA or RD, with all roommates present. During this conversation, a roommate agreement should be drafted to help hold all students accountable. Participation in the roommate mediation process is required. We prioritize conflict resolution first because learning to navigate differences is an important part of community living.

Room changes typically do not occur within the first two weeks of the semester. All room changes are subject to the approval of Housing and Residence Life. Students may not move to another room or bed without obtaining prior permission from Housing and Residence Life, and students may not occupy additional beds or furniture within their assigned room, even if vacancies exist.

Sometimes, students request an elective room change. This type of room change occurs when a student voluntarily elects to move—such as wanting to live with a friend who has an open space or wishing to relocate to another location. In these cases, the student must first submit a request via email to the Director or Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life. All students involved must agree to the move, and HRL requires written consent via email from the student(s) in the receiving room or apartment, confirming they agree to welcome the new roommate.

Please note: Requesting an elective room change does not guarantee approval.

In cases where it is determined that paired roommates cannot continue to share the same room, Housing and Residence Life staff typically do not designate who will move. Sometimes, this means that all people involved in the situation will relocate.

Students not bound by the residency requirement who wish to cancel their on-campus housing before the start of the Fall semester must submit their request to Housing and Residence Life by August 1st. For Agreements commencing in the Spring semester, students must submit a written request to Housing and Residence Life by December 1st. 

Such cancellations will result in a refund of room and board charges less the $300.00 reservation fee.

A student not bound by the residency requirement who wishes to cancel this Agreement after checking into housing and occupying a room is responsible for full room charges for the term of the Agreement. If the resident vacates their room without obtaining written approval of a cancellation, or if a resident fails to take occupancy of their assigned room without written approval of a cancellation, the resident remains financially responsible for the room for the term of the Agreement.

Cancellation or release from this Agreement is not granted until the resident receives approval from the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

Residents may request a release from this Agreement by submitting the Release from Housing form to the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The request will be processed and reviewed, and the Agreement may only be canceled at the discretion of Marywood. In all instances, the resident has the burden of proof to demonstrate grounds for early termination. The resident’s obligation to pay the fees required by the Agreement shall continue for the entire term and until all sums due to Marywood are paid in full if a cancellation request is not granted. Residents are also responsible for any interest, collection, and reasonable attorney’s fees associated with the collection of delinquent accounts.
