        The Associate Vice President for Retention and Student Success serves as the University's chief retention officer and is responsible for coordinating institution-wide efforts to improve student persistence and graduation outcomes. The AVP oversees professional advising, retention analytics, and intervention systems, and works collaboratively with leaders across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Athletics, Enrollment Management, and Student Financial Services to address academic, personal, and financial barriers to student success.

        The Associate Vice President will coordinate and align retention initiatives across the institution. While many offices contributing to retention outcomes do not directly report to this position, the Associate Vice President will facilitate collaboration, establish intervention protocols, monitor outcomes, and recommend strategies to improve student persistence and completion. Success in this position will be measured through improvements in retention, persistence, progression, graduation, and re-enrollment outcomes, as well as the effectiveness of institutional intervention strategies.

        Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, this position will serve as a campus-wide leader who is responsible for coordinating interventions, measuring outcomes, and driving institutional retention strategy within the interconnected set of academic, personal, and financial factors that influence student persistence.  The Associate Vice President for Retention and Student Success serves as the coordinating leader who aligns these functions, ensures accountability, and drives data-informed interventions across all three pillars.

        KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

        Strategic Retention Leadership

        • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of comprehensive, data-informed retention strategies aligned with Marywood University’s mission and enrollment goals.
        • Serve as the primary institutional leader for undergraduate and graduate retention, persistence, re-enrollment initiatives, campaigns and enrollment drives.
        • Identify barriers to student persistence and recommend policy, process, and programmatic solutions to improve outcomes.

        Data-Informed Decision Making

        • Partner with Institutional Research, Academic Affairs, and Financial Aid to analyze retention and persistence data, identify trends, and develop targeted interventions for at-risk student populations.
        • Maintain and oversee institutional retention dashboards, intervention tracking systems, retention workbooks, and persistence reporting processes.
        • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to retention, progression, and degree completion, to identify enrollment trends.
        • Utilize dashboards, reports, and predictive analytics to inform strategy and communicate progress to develop high-level analysis to the Vice President of Enrollment for institutional leadership reports.

        Program Development and Oversight

        • Design, implement, and oversee retention programs including early alert, outreach campaigns, re-enrollment initiatives, and coordinated intervention efforts.
        • Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and student support units to strengthen early identification and response to academic, personal, and financial challenges.

        Team Building and Supervision

        • Build, supervise, and lead a retention-focused team of professional advisors, including hiring, training, and ongoing professional development of staff as resources allow.
        • Establish clear goals, expectations, and assessment practices for retention personnel.
        • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the retention team.

        Cross-Functional Collaboration

        • Work closely with Academic Affairs, Student Experience, Advising, Financial Aid, Residence Life, and other campus partners to promote shared ownership of student success.
        • Serve on institutional committees related to retention, assessment, and student success.
        • Communicate retention priorities, initiatives, and outcomes effectively to campus stakeholders.

        PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

        • Doctorate in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or related field.
        • Experience with retention technologies, CRM systems, predictive analytics, or student success platforms.
        • Experience supervising advising or student success personnel.

        GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

        The Coordinator of Prior Learning Assessment is the professional responsible for facilitating evaluation of transfer credit and other college level prior learning for accepted, as well as, prospective undergraduate students. S/he assists in the recruitment and course planning for both transfer students and former Marywood students who return as undergraduate applicants. This individual promotes alternate means of earning credit such as Portfolio Assessment. S/he has a role in the establishment of articulation agreements.

        ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

        Assist prospective undergraduate students during the admissions process in the evaluation of prior college level learning, including first year, transfer, and those students reapplying to Marywood University.

        Evaluate and/or transcript and maintain data on the University Student Information System, including but not limited to course equivalency information, prior learning transfer credit, dual enrollment credit, AP exams and other prior learning, as well as, entering exceptions and overrides to student degree requirements.

        Assist in organizing and participate in new student orientation twice each year for incoming transfer students.

        Manage the Charlotte Newcombe Scholarship. Determine and contact potential applicants, evaluate applications in conjunction with the committee and notify applicants of awards.

        Coordinate materials and offer expertise for the development of articulation agreements to facilitate ease of transfer. Encourage transfer student applications and explore potential articulation agreements by fostering relationships with administrators of other academic institutions, as well as, establishing relationships with department chairs in order to facilitate credit assessment.

        Maintain the prior learning portion of the Registrar’s pages of the University website, including updating of Articulation Agreements, as necessary.

        Guide both undergraduate and graduate students through the portfolio credit option for life experience, as well as work with academic departments to facilitate the process for the student.

        Build and maintain the Colleague transfer tool.

        Function as a full participant in the work of the Registrar's Office/Academic Records including but not limited to: participation in planning of and coordination of office activities, monitoring of shared office email addresses, assisting in the student service area, remaining current on federal and state laws affecting student recordkeeping, as well as, internal University policies, assisting in preparations for orientation, assisting with degree audit, and cross-training in order to forward the work of the office efficiently.

        Position Summary

        The Administrative Director of the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning, Research and Scholarship (CTTL RS) provides strategic administrative leadership for faculty development, instructional innovation, academic support programming, and institutional teaching and learning initiatives. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing faculty professional development opportunities; supporting the effective use of academic systems and technologies; and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and student success. The Administrative Director advances institutional priorities related to inclusive excellence, assessment, accreditation, and faculty success across all appointment types.

        Essential Duties and Responsibilities

        • Provide strategic leadership aligned with university priorities, the University's Strategic Plan, accreditation standards, and student success initiatives.
        • Develop and implement faculty professional development programs, including initiatives that promote institutional inclusivity across all faculty appointment types.
        • Coordinate New Faculty Orientation and conduct regular, recurring in-person and online programming for all faculty on topics including institution-wide and college-wide academic practices and systems, pedagogical training, teaching excellence, instructional design, academic technology, assessment standards and policies, and leadership development.
        • Maintain and disseminate the institutional syllabus template on a semesterly basis as needed.

          • Provide leadership and supervision for a multidisciplinary advancement team, including professional staff, support personnel, grant professionals, and volunteers.
          • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing advancement, grant, and corporate partnership professionals.
          • Manage the division’s budget and resources responsibly and in alignment with institutional priorities.
          • Promote collaboration across University divisions to advance shared fundraising, grant, and sponsorship goals.

          Required Qualifications

          • Master’s degree required; terminal degree preferred.
          • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in university advancement, fundraising, grants, or related philanthropic leadership.
          • Demonstrated success in major and principal gift fundraising, grant acquisition, corporate sponsorship development, and comprehensive campaign leadership.
          • Proven experience managing complex advancement and grant operations, teams, and budgets.
          • Strong strategic planning, analytical, and organizational skills.
          • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
          • Commitment to ethical fundraising, grant compliance, and mission-driven leadership.

          Preferred Qualifications

          • Experience leading advancement, grant, and sponsorship efforts at a tuition-dependent, mission-driven institution.
          • Successful experience working with Boards of Trustees and senior executive leadership.
          • Familiarity with advancement systems, CRM platforms, and data-driven fundraising and grant management models.
          • Experience expanding foundation, corporate, government, and sponsorship funding portfolios.

          Work Environment and Expectations

          • Occasional evening and weekend work required for donor, alumni, sponsor, and institutional events.
          • Travel required to support donor cultivation, alumni engagement, grant funders, and corporate partners.
