          Description:

Marywood University's Department of Psychology and Counseling invites applications for a full-time core faculty member within the Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) Program. We are seeking applications from psychologists with expertise in a variety of curriculum areas and who are interested in helping lead a well-established and accredited doctoral program. Candidates are being considered across all ranks (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor).

In accordance with Marywood University’s tradition of service, our APA-accredited clinical psychology doctoral program follows the Vail model, training students to be scholar-practitioners who can approach all aspects of their work through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Psy.D. program is a close-knit community with small cohorts, typically 8-10 students, that receive academic instruction and applied training in the substantive areas of clinical psychology. The use of empirically-supported assessments and intervention strategies is also strongly emphasized. And although not designed to produce researchers per se, the Psy.D. program teaches students to be educated consumers of research by requiring three courses in research and statistics along with an empirically-based dissertation.

Applicants for this faculty position may choose to apply for a tenure track position, which carries responsibility for maintaining a research program in a relevant area of clinical psychology, or for an appointment as a clinical professor of practice, which involves fewer responsibilities for research. (Please specify in your cover letter which appointment you wish to be considered for). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is found.

          Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) in clinical or counseling psychology or related discipline from an APA-accredited institution and be licensed or license-eligible. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to socially responsible practice and issues of social justice. In addition, we are seeking applicants with one or more of the following areas of expertise:

          • Child and adolescent psychology
          • Multicultural psychology
          • Couple and family therapy

          Teaching:

Psy.D. core faculty members carry a 3/3 course load, with further course reductions for formal leadership roles. Faculty are expected to develop syllabi and teaching materials with strong empirical foundations, including multiple peer-reviewed articles published within the last five years; to engage in appropriate professional development activities, which the department provides funding for; and to contribute to a team atmosphere in the Department of Psychology and Counseling.

          Scholarship/Research:

All faculty are required to engage in service to the university, to supervise dissertation research, and to actively participate in professional guilds and other networks. Tenure-track faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly activities, which may include presentations at academic and professional conferences and/or submissions to peer-reviewed journals or other publications.

          Application Materials:

Please include the following with your application:

          • University application
          • Cover letter
          • Curriculum vitae
          • Unofficial transcripts
          • Names and contact details for three (3) references.
