Published

Marywood University claimed the Atlantic East Conference Women’s Track and Field Championship this weekend, marking its first title since 2022 and the program’s fourth conference championship overall. The Pacers delivered a dominant performance, finishing with 186 points to outpace three-time defending champion Marymount University, which finished second with 20 points. Immaculata University placed third with 117 points, followed by Pratt Institute, Gwynedd Mercy, Neumann, and Saint Elizabeth.

Marywood secured the championship with standout performances across the meet, highlighted by a decisive victory in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Elizabeth Tomasetti, Abby Megotz, Caroline Walters, and Carly Walters crossed the finish line in a record-breaking 4:05.25—shattering both the Atlantic East championship record and the conference overall record.

Tomasetti also delivered a first-place finish in the 400 hurdles, setting a school record with a time of 1:09.69. In the triple jump, Kalie Fernandez-Naughton captured a conference title with a mark of 31 feet, 8 inches, leading a Marywood sweep of the top four spots in the event.

The Pacers tied or broke five school records throughout the championship meet. Carly Walters set two individual records, including a new mark in the 400 meters (1:00.15) and a record-breaking 200-meter dash performance (26.74). Additional program records and top-five all-time performances came from Braelyn Reed, Paige Redman, Janelle Sanabria, and others, underscoring a deep and historic team effort.

Marywood previously won Atlantic East titles in 2019, 2021, and 2022, and this latest victory reaffirms the Pacers’ place at the top of the conference.
