Artist and Educator Stephen Colley Completes Life-Sized Veterans Sculpture

Stephen Colley, a passionate artist and educator at Marywood has completed his latest life sized sculpture and installation. This piece “Kneeling soldier with his dog” has been put in its final resting place at Veterans Monument park. This piece is one in a series of multiple life sized sculpture installations to remember war veterans that served our country.
The process took him about four years to complete. This lengthy process started with a dream and ended with a 12,000 lb transportation, installation and a connected community. The project is a huge milestone in Stephen Colley's sculpture career. The “Kneeling Soldier with his Dog” has already caught the attraction of many online. He’s amassed about 12,000 views on recent social media Facebook posts.
While this piece has been completed, work on the veteran sculptures is still ongoing. He plans on creating four more sculptures to install at the monument park alongside his newest piece. The current project he’s working on is called “No man left behind” and features a soldier carrying another wounded soldier on his back to safety. He plans on creating another sculpture as a tribute for nurses during war. A nurse is shown holding a wounded soldier in her arms.
