Marywood University, MSW Faculty members, Sister Angela Kim and Selina Shrestha and two MSW students, Sana Rahman and Sr Mary Tinh were invited to participate in the Women’s Day Celebration.
The Women’s Day celebration was organized by the Bridges to Wellness Mental Health for refugees and immigrants of the Catholic Social Services in Scranton, PA was held on March 7th, 2026 at the IHM Conference Center. Multiethnic immigrant and refugee women attended the celebration including Bhutanese, Congolese, Guatemalan, Indian, Pakistani, Ukrainian, and Venezuelan participants, creating a powerful moment of cultural celebration, community connection, and collective support for women in our community.
During the celebration, MU MSW students, Sana Rahman and Sister Mary Tinh, were honored with recognition certificates for their dedication and support of the Bridges to Wellness Mental Health program for refugees and immigrants as well as for their active collaboration in preparing the Women’s Day event. Both MSW students are placed at the Catholic Social Services as part of their MSW program field placement.
The Women’s Day event served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of uplifting women’s voices, honoring cultural identities, and fostering mental wellness through community engagement.
