Criminal Justice Students Get Hands-On Experience

Adjunct faculty member James Kanavy provided students in his classes with a unique hands-on learning opportunity through a series of field trips across the Lackawanna County criminal justice system. Throughout the month of February, students visited several key locations, including the Coroner’s Office and the Crime Scene Unit of the Scranton Police Department.
These visits allowed students to see firsthand how different parts of the criminal justice system operate and interact. By stepping outside the classroom, students were able to gain valuable insight into investigative processes and professional roles that are rarely visible to the public.
The experience offered a meaningful way for students to connect course concepts with real-world practice while exploring important aspects of the legal and criminal justice system within the local community.

Marywood Student-Athletes Participate in NEPA Polar Plunge to Support Special Olympics PennsylvaniaMembers of the Marywood University volleyball team and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently participated in the NEPA Polar Plunge at Montage Mountain to support Special Olympics Pennsylvania. Several student-athletes braved the cold waters while teammates cheered them on, helping raise awareness and funds for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
