Marywood University is adding two new minors, AI Literacy and Applied AI, to equip students with expertise in high-growth and in-demand areas that employers are seeking.
“Employers are seeking AI-skilled graduates. These new minors will boost our students’ employment opportunities and career trajectory as a result,” said Lisa A. Lori, Marywood University President. “Our students will be equipped to excel and innovate, no matter which career path they choose.”
The AI Literacy program provides students across all fields and disciplines with the foundational skills and knowledge to effectively use and understand emerging artificial technologies. This program makes AI clear and approachable for everyone, without the need for coding experience, and is open to students in any major. All students should gain a baseline understanding of how to use AI to be better and more efficient in their future careers.
The Applied AI concentration equips students with cutting-edge skills in Artificial Intelligence, preparing them for a range of advanced applications and roles. This program offers intensive training in AI, preparing graduates to enter one of the fastest-growing fields in today’s job market. While it encompasses essential math and programming, the curriculum is finely tuned to emphasize the applied skills that modern roles demand. This program is designed to be combined with a major such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Cybersecurity.
These new programs are available for current students, starting in Fall 2025, through a partnership with the Lower Cost Models Consortium (LCMC) and Rize Education. The LCMC is a strategic partnership of private colleges and universities across the country collaborating with Rize Education to provide access to a cutting-edge curriculum that prepares students for successful careers.
