Set the tone with our comprehensive Audio Production track in the Multimedia Communication degree program. This track is your pathway to becoming a master of sound production, whether you’re interested in working in film, television, advertising, digital marketing, or the music industry. Our curriculum is meticulously designed to equip you with the versatile skills and in-depth knowledge necessary to create and engineer sound that can move audiences, literally and figuratively. You’ll be prepared to excel in various roles within the media industry as an editor, producer or engineer.

This ensures you receive the guidance and mentorship necessary to become a master of audio production. As a Multimedia Communication major, you’ll develop a wide array of skills, setting the foundation for a successful career in television, film, music production, and beyond.

Engage in hands-on learning from the start by contributing to Marywood's vibrant on-campus media outlets, including VMFM-91.7, TV-Marywood, and Marywood Films. Students can also start their own podcast using Marywood’s Podcasting studio and digital influencing suite. These platforms offer you a real-world experience in a controlled educational environment, allowing you to hone your skills in various aspects of digital audio production.

Radio Station 91.7 VMFM 

VMFM 91.7 is Marywood University’s student-run radio station, located in Marywood University's Learning Commons. For nearly two decades, VMFM has been named “Best College Radio Station' in the area and is the only commercial-free alternative radio station in northeast Pennsylvania. 

Marywood Podcast Studio

Located in Marywood University’s Learning Commons, the podcasting studio allows students to create audio/visual podcasts using state-of-the-art equipment. Podcasts are shared digitally and sometimes broadcast on our campus radio station, 91.7 VMFM. 

COMING SOON: Recording Studio

Our next big project, slated for grand opening in Fall 2026, is the creation of our very own recording studio complete with all of the latest technology to record and produce sound. The studio will be housed in our Multimedia Communication facility and include audio mixing equipment, a recording sound booth, and an editing bay.

Students are prepared for careers in audio production, which may include work in radio, television, podcasting, film, video games, apps, and music production. They explore digital audio editing and examine the dramatic role of music and sound design, focusing on how they enhance scene structure, emotional arcs, and storytelling in dramatic films, documentaries, interactive applications, and gaming environments. They learn about emerging digital tools and how to produce, direct, and shoot in the field and in a studio. Students practice leadership skills, editing and production at student-managed media organizations.
