Please check hours for each gallery.
In the summer during exhibitions, the galleries are open Tuesday through Thursday, 10 AM - 3 PM. The galleries are closed during university holidays, breaks, and between exhibitions. The galleries are free and open to the public.
Exhibitions are often accompanied by artists' illustrated lectures and gallery talks, in addition to award presentations, featured displays, special projects, and the Art Department’s Distinguished Visiting Artist Lecture Series.

Marywood's permanent collection, which is housed in the Suraci Gallery, includes a variety of fine and decorative art from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as a special Asian collection.

The Maslow Collection includes over 500 pieces of contemporary art by more than 150 mostly-American artists. Marywood students and faculty use the collection for research and study. Some works are on loan to regional and national galleries.

The Maslow Study Gallery for Contemporary Art is pleased to present “25 in 25: Additions to The Maslow Collection since 2001,” on view August 24th in conjunction with the start of Marywood’s fall semester.
Featuring 25 works added to the Collection over the past 25 years, the exhibition offers a focused look at the continued growth and evolution of The Maslow Collection since its relationship with Marywood University began.
“25 in 25” coincides with the Marywood Art Department Alumni Exhibition, on view August 24–September 19 in the Mahady Gallery, celebrating 25 years since the opening of the Insalaco Studio Arts building. Together, the exhibitions mark a quarter-century of artistic growth, collecting, and creative life at Marywood.
“25 in 25” also serves as a preview to “An Enduring Vision: Richard Maslow and The Maslow Collection,” a major exhibition opening September 25 across the Maslow Study Gallery for Contemporary Art, Mahady Gallery, and Suraci Gallery. Presented in tribute to the late Richard Maslow (1932–2024), the exhibition will bring together many of the artists and works he most admired while tracing the history, development, and enduring legacy of The Maslow Collection. Marywood University is pleased to present "An Enduring Vision: Richard Maslow and The Maslow Collection," a major exhibition celebrating the life, vision, and legacy of Richard Maslow (1932–2024) and the extraordinary collection of contemporary art he built over more than four decades.
Presented across the Maslow Study Gallery for Contemporary Art, Mahady Gallery, and Suraci Gallery, the exhibition brings together many of Maslow’s favorite artists and artworks while tracing the history and evolution of The Maslow Collection—from its beginnings as a private collection to its longstanding relationship with Marywood University and its continuing role as a resource for students, scholars, and the broader community.
Rather than attempting to survey the Collection in its entirety, An Enduring Vision reflects the distinctive eye behind it. Works by artists central to the Collection are presented alongside significant acquisitions and selections that illuminate Maslow’s interests, relationships, and approach to collecting. Together, they tell the story not only of a remarkable collection, but of the individual whose curiosity, generosity, and commitment to contemporary art made it possible.
The exhibition also considers the continuing life of The Maslow Collection at Marywood, where works once assembled through one collector’s personal vision have become catalysts for teaching, research, exhibitions, and new encounters with contemporary art.

Barbara Sowinski: Over the River and Through the Years
Opening Reception: Friday, October 30, 2026, 4-6 p.m.
Forty years ago, Barbara Sowinski retired to a 65-acre farm overlooking the Susquehanna River, marking a new beginning and an opportunity to pursue art seriously. She went on to study at the Art Students League of New York, the New York Studio School, and the Vermont Studio Center, and earned a Master of Arts in Art from Marywood University. Inspired by people, places, and landscapes, her work has been exhibited nationally.
