Marywood University’s Army ROTC program provides students with leadership training, practical experience, and scholarship opportunities while they complete their degree. Cadets develop essential skills in teamwork, discipline, and service, preparing them for future roles as Army officers.

Air Force ROTC programs partner with NEPA universities, including Marywood. The program is open to any full-time (12+ credit hours) college student. Students can participate in Air Force training while pursuing their studies. Marywood offers a supportive environment that helps students gain hands-on experience and a direct pathway to commissioning as Air Force officers.
View ROTC Air Force ProgramMarywood University works closely with the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) to support veterans, current service members, and their families. As one of the best schools for veterans, Marywood ensures students can access state-level benefits, educational assistance, and resource connections offered by the DMVA, augmenting the university’s own veteran services, outreach, and support infrastructure.
Marywood also maintains a strong collaboration with the Lackawanna County Veterans Affairs Office, connecting veterans to local support services such as disability and pension benefits, real-estate tax exemptions, burial assistance, and help with service records. Through this partnership, Marywood helps ensure veterans and their dependents can seamlessly access county-level resources while pursuing their education.
Warrior Strong offers free yoga lessons for veterans and their dependents. They hold classes in downtown Scranton twice a month and are currently working to expand their operations in order to provide a multitude of services specially designed for the adaptive athlete.
Equines for Freedom is a non-profit organization that offers free PTSD therapy that utilizes EMDR and therapy horses to help alleviate the symptoms of PTSD. They do not report to the VA and the therapy sessions are offered on an individual bases.
Camp Freedom is a nonprofit organization that provides outdoor adventures for disabled Veterans and First Responders, their family members, Gold Star Families, and Gold Shield Families including quality hunting, shooting sports, fishing, hiking, biking, and other year-round outdoor activities. These activities remove individuals from clinical settings into the healing environment of the outdoors and nature.
