I'm Sarah. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Pennsylvania. I work as a Staff Counselor here at Marywood University. Prior to my current job, I worked in Vermont as a Mental Health Counselor at Landmark College for 2 years and as an inpatient psych Social Worker at the Brattleboro Retreat for 7 years (float position and then exclusively on the LGBTQ+ unit). I was a clinician in other settings such as inpatient and residential substance use programs as well as partial hospitalization programs. I mainly work with individuals, but I come from a family systems background and so I keep a systemic framework in all of my work experiences. I obtained my B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 2013 and graduated with a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University New England in 2016. I have been a certified yoga instructor since 2012 and I have experience working with the Peers program to help young adults with social skills training. I have a personal interest in holistic health and so I have done enrichment workshops such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Bach Flower Essences through the Mt. Nittany Institute of Natural Health in 2009 and have studied herbalism since 2004. My clinical perspective is mainly a mix of family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and eastern philosophies like Buddhism to help clients focus on the now.
