Simone Barbi graduated in Architecture from the Università degli Studi di Firenze and obtained a Ph.D. in Architectural Composition from the Università IUAV di Venezia. He is an Adjunct Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at DIDA – Dipartimento di Architettura, Università degli Studi di Firenze. He also teaches and serves as a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of “Our Lady of Good Counsel” in Tirana where is the scientific coordinator of ADAM-Archivio del Disegno di Architettura Mediterraneo. He regularly collaborates as a Visiting Critic with various American study-abroad programmes in Florence. He is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal FirenzeArchitettura and the scientific coordinator of Archivia-Architettura, which promotes original studies in architecture through the valorisation of archival sources. He participated in the Biennale Architettura 2025 | GENS Public Programme as a curator and panelist for the workshop: “From the archives to the 21st century. On the visionary nature of urban thinking in the work of Leonardo Savioli, Giovanni Michelucci and Leonardo Ricci”, held in the Speakers' Corner at the Corderie. He regularly publishes essays and articles in academic journals and carries out design research through participation in national and international competitions.
