                                                            Dr. Joan McCusker, IHM is associate professor of music education and serves as music education coordinator. Teaching responsibilities include: undergraduate courses in the music theory sequence (aural skills III, IV; class piano I, II for non-majors; keyboard harmony I, II); arts administration/music courses; general music elementary K-6 and secondary 7-12 methods; and applied piano, when needed. Dr. McCusker also supervises music students in the Block Practicum and student teaching, and arts admin/music students in practicum and internships. As a member of the IHM Congregation, she serves as music director and conductor for various church-related services and ceremonies, and has published choral and solo piano works with that organization. Dr. McCusker's music education teaching experience includes: elementary and high school general music/choral programs in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. She holds permanent teacher certification licenses in Pennsylvania and New York State for music education K-12. Professional memberships include Kappa Gamma Pi National Honor Society, National Association for Music Education-NAfME; Pennsylvania Music Educators' Association, and the National Association for Schools of Music. She is NASM's institutional representative for Marywood, and serves as a NASM accreditation site evaluator. Dr. McCusker holds degrees from Marywood, Ithaca College, and the Eastman School of Music.
