As an adjunct professor at Marywood University, Ellen Cummings prepares student-teachers for the rigors of classroom instruction. Specializing in courses geared toward special education, Cummings brings extensive experience from over twenty years served as a Training and Professional Development Consultant at Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit as well as professional insights garnered from her tenures as a Community Liaison and Executive Director.
Cummings is a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University in 1976 and has attained her Master’s Degree and certification in Special Education from Marywood University in 2004.
Over the course of her career Cummings formed and maintained affiliations with community organizations such as The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce as a Board of Directors Member for LIFE Skills in Scranton; The Northeastern Women in Education Caucus; Nativity of Our Lord Elementary School Advisory Council; The Regional Cassp Committee; and Wayne County Behavioral Health/Intellectual Disability Advisory Committee, where she served until her retirement in 2015.
