On June 28, 2002, Governor Mark Schweiker signed a law that requires vaccinations against meningococcal meningitis for students living in a university residence hall or in other university-owned housing across Pennsylvania. ALL resident students at Marywood University MUST be vaccinated before entering University housing for the Fall Semester 2009. Students preferring to be exempted from the law must satisfy the following condition: the student (or parent/legal guardian, if the student is under 18 years of age), after having been advised of the risks of the disease and the availability and effectiveness of the vaccine, must sign a waiver form stating that s/he reviewed the information and has chosen not to be vaccinated against the disease for religious or other reasons.
Also, it is mandatory that all resident students, international students, and student-athletes submit a completed Health History and Immunization Record to the Student Health Services Office. This form is provided by Admissions and is also available at Student Health Services or on the Student Health Services web site.
