The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Marywood University has recently been granted continued accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) for the Didactic Program in Dietetics, the Coordinated Program in Dietetics and the Dietetic Internship.

Marywood University and the Scranton School District have announced their partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Partners in Education Institute. The Institute, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Committee for the Performing Arts, and the Kennedy Center Corporate Fund, promotes partnerships between arts organizations and local school districts in communities across the country, focusing on the development of arts education programs for teachers.

The Marywood University Art Department and Galleries will present Senior Exhibition & Open House April 17 - 25 in the Mahady Gallery, Shields Center for Visual Arts. The exhibit opens on April 17 with a reception from 2-5p.m. and features the artwork of 61 students graduating in May and December of 2010. In addition, their artwork and portfolios will be on display throughout the various studios and exhibition areas in both the Shields Center for Visual Arts and the Insalaco Center for Studio Arts. Doug Smith Improvisational Ensemble will be providing musical accompaniment to complement the opening reception.

Women's lacrosse team opens season with a victory over Randolph College.
The Marywood Players, a student run organization in the Marywood University Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance, will present Twisted Theatre: a Reversed Revue directed by Elizabeth Smith and produced by Victoria Moshy on Friday March 12, at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The production will be performed in the Black Box Theatre, Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. The event is free and open to the public. (Donations will be accepted for Boadway Cares.)
Marywood University announces their School of Social Work Spring Start 2010 MSW Program, which provides a Tuesday and Thursday weeknight course for students who missed the start of their Fall 2009 MSW Cohort. This innovative program has been designed to serve prospective students who have not studied in the social work discipline during their undergraduate careers and who seek to further their career or make a career change. Typical interested individuals might be currently working in or may have recently been employed in social work, human services, health care, palliative and hospice care, criminal justice, or may have recently completed military service.

Marywood University's Attention Disorders Clinic will host its first Focus Festival on Wednesday, April 21 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. in the Latour Room, Nazereth Center. The Focus Festival will increase student awareness of the factors that enhance and impair attention and concentration. Students will compete in a variety of attention and memory challenges, as well as learn about web sites that can improve attention, concentration, and working memory. Students also have the opportunity to play games that actually move objects based on "brain activity."

He will demonstrate and foster excellence in teaching, research, and service. Prior to his position, Dr. Levin acted as interim Dean of the College of Health and Human Services, Professor and Director of the Doctoral Program in Human Development, and Professor and Co-Chair in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, he acted as Deputy Director of Research for the former Military Family Institute at Marywood University.
On September 1, 2009, Northeast Pennsylvania's first Architecture students stood in awe, and then scattered to take hundreds of cell phone photos, mingle with their new classmates, and then listen attentively this afternoon as they witnessed what everyone had been waiting more than a year for-the opening of the first academic year for the new Center for Architectural Studies, the spacious learning lab of "green" architecture that will be the academic home for the next four to six years for these future environmental stewards.

Marywood University awarded 863 degrees to graduates from the Reap College of Education and Human Development, Insalaco College of Creative Arts and Management, College of Health and Human Services, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the School of Architecture.
Due to a new Federal law, Marywood University undergraduate and graduate students who wish to borrow under the Federal Student Loan Programs for the 2010-2011 academic year MUST complete new Entrance Counseling and complete a new Master Promissory Note (MPN) with the U.S. Department of Education no later than May 15, 2010.

The Marywood University Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Nathaniel F. Parker, will present their final performance of the 2009-2010 season on Sunday, April 25, at 4p.m. in the Holy Family Residence Auditorium (2500 Adams Ave.). The concert is open to the public and admission is free. The program will feature classical and pops favorites in the style of the BBC Proms concerts. The program includes Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony, Sibelius's tone poem Finlandia, and celebrated works from the American musical theater repertoire, such as Bernstein's West Side Story, Willson's The Music Man, and a medley of songs by Irving Berlin. Marywood University students win Addy Awards from the AAF Northeast PA Chapter. The ADDY awards are the world's largest advertising competition with over 60,000 entries annually submitted. The ADDY awards recognize all forms of advertising, from types of media to entrants from various levels around the world. The American Advertising Federation conducts the ADDY Awards through its 15 districts and 200 member clubs. It is the sole award program in the advertising industry.
