Empowered to Lead
Leadership is a demanding call. While some people are “born leaders,” others need guidance and the right kinds of opportunities to discover their leadership qualities and realize their potential. At Marywood University, our mission espouses “the belief that education empowers people.” In the Student Activities and Leadership Development Office (SALD), this belief is demonstrated every day, both by the students who answer the call to lead and by the staff members who guide them on this journey.
Some of the signature events and opportunities that relate to our core value of Empowerment, which also highlight student leadership, include the CONQUER Student Leadership Conference (November 4), the National Society of Leadership and Success (ongoing each semester), and the Student Government Association (ongoing goals and collaboration). Additionally, Marywood students attend and present at the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA), traditionally held in late October.

Marywood Students Join Annual AICUP Day on the Hill
A group of six Marywood students and a staff member were among 170 attendees from 23 different schools to participate in the annual Pennsylvania education advocacy event.

Retiring President Sister Mary Persico, IHM, Ed.D. to Address Class of 2024
Sister Mary, who will retire on June 30, will address graduates at Marywood University’s 106th Commencement on May 18, 2024, and will be recognized with a special tribute at the ceremony.

Lisa A. Lori, J.D. Elected as Marywood University's First Lay President
Atty. Lori, a Marywood graduate, formerly served as Board Chair. She will begin her presidential tenure on July 1, 2024.
