Master of Social Work Student Receives Fellowship Award
Marywood University master of social work student, Kandia Palmer, East Stroudsburg, Pa., was notified that she is the recipient of a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Minority Fellowship Program award for the 2018-2019 academic year.
According to the CSWE website, “The purpose of this program is to reduce health disparities and improve behavioral health-care outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations by increasing the number of culturally competent master’s-level behavioral health professionals available to serve racial/ethnic minority populations.”
Ms. Palmer was a student in Marywood University’s Pocono master of social work program. She graduated cum laude from East Stroudsburg University in 2015 with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. While at ESU, she was inducted into the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology, Sigma Alpha Pi National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, and Tau Sigma National Honor Society. Ms. Palmer participated in field placement at a private practice in East Stroudsburg, Pa., where she is looking forward to becoming a licensed clinical social worker and eventually having her own practice.
