Karen Rossmell’s educational background in psychology and her institutional experience at Marywood make her the ideal candidate to act as the administrative assistant in the Psychology and Counseling department. Karen graduated with her BS in psychology from the University of Scranton. She began working at Marywood in September of 2013 in the housekeeping department and was appointed to her present position in March of 2017. As part of her current duties, Karen is responsible for assisting students and faculty with core responsibilities within the department such as candidacy, comprehension exams, scheduling, budget issues, faculty contracts and ensuring the department’s efficiency through supply management and front-end support.
She loves working with her co-workers, faculty, and the students within the department. She enjoys the challenge of multitasking and having questions answered. Most importantly, Karen cherishes the community Marywood fosters through its IHM origins.
Outside of the office, Karen is the mother of two sons and the proud grandmother of two grandsons. She has been a commissioned IHM Associate since July of 2016; acted as the Treasurer of the Support Staff from 2018 to 2020; served on the Strategic Planning Committee from 2019 to 2021; Senator on the Executive Council Committee form 2022 to present; and has served as a Pacer Pantry liaison since 2020. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious studies at Marywood with an anticipated graduation date of 2023.
