Professor Amy Wescott, a practicing nurse practitioner, with more than two decades of nursing
experience began her career working in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care settings. She
then gravitated to pediatric and adult neurosurgery, assisting neurosurgeons in the surgical
setting. She returned to her first love, pediatrics, and worked in pediatric primary care for nearly
a decade, where she witnessed firsthand the disparities that affect the disadvantaged
population. In 2016, Professor Wescott accepted a full-time position with her alma-mater
teaching pediatrics and a variety of other nursing courses. Professor Wescott continues to
remain current in the profession. For the past seven years she has worked as a nurse
practitioner in the urgent care setting, delivering advanced practice nursing care to patients with acute
illnesses and injuries. She draws upon real life experiences to inspire excellence in the next
generation of nurses.
