Worthy Achievement for the Art Department at Marywood

Marywood University’s Art Department was recently notified that the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) has voted to renew Marywood’s membership and full accreditation. The Commission on Accreditation further commends Marywood for its achievement in educational quality and services in art and design.

NASAD is the highest accreditation body for schools of art and design recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Founded in 1944, NASAD is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 363 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for art and design and art/design-related disciplines, and aids institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other art/design-related endeavors.

The College of Arts and Sciences at Marywood University offers the following art and design programs, which are all renewed for full accreditation by NASAD including: Undergraduate—art therapy; arts administration; studio art (2D and 3D); and design. Graduate programs include: art therapy; studio art (2D and3D) visual art (2D and 3D); graphic design and illustration (low residency); interior architecture; and sequential art and storytelling certification (low residency).
