Business Students Win Top Awards in International Competition
Four Marywood graduate and undergraduate students were recently notified that they won top awards in X-Culture’s International Business Competition.
Every semester, thousands of students and professionals from more than 40 countries take part in the X-Culture competition. For several months, they work together on business projects presented by X-Culture’s corporate partners. Students and professionals compete, collaborate, and learn the challenges and best practices of international business consulting. Recently, X-Culture notified the winners of their categories.
Wajahat Mahmood, Scranton, Pa., master of business administration students’ team, won in the Best Report for UniCheck category; Michael A. Magistro, Scranton, Pa., master of business administration students’ team placed first in the S-Cape category; Vincent E. Rebar, Throop, Pa., master of business administration students’ team won in the category for Best Report for Custom Photo Props; and Joni L. Host, Montrose, Pa., undergraduate business management/marketing students’ team won in the category for Best Report for Custom Photo Props.
Christopher Speicher, Ph.D., associate professor in the School of Business and Global Innovation at the University, served as the faculty advisor for the University’s students. Dr. Speicher said, “This is the first time that we entered into the X-Culture International Business Program, where each of our students was placed on a consulting team working with one student from each continent on a project. I’m incredibly proud of our students’ achievements in this very prestigious competition.”
More than 5,000 master of business administration, undergraduate business, and non-student contestants from more than 150 universities in 40 countries on all six continents enrolled in the competition.
Community Leadership Celebration to Honor Mary Ellen McDonough '73
During the celebration, Mrs. McDonough will receive the University’s Lead On Award, in recognition of her dedicated service as both a Certified Prevention Specialist and as a community volunteer leader.
Fall 2023 Dean’s List Announced
Undergraduate students who earn a semester GPA of 3.50-4.00 on 12 or more graded credits merit this academic honor.
