Worship Brings Us Together

Everyone in the Marywood University community is encouraged to participate actively as a member of the assembly or to offer individual gifts as music minister, lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, acolyte (server), minister of hospitality (Greeter), artist, dancer, or sacristan.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God in the scriptures so that the worshipping assembly can hear Christ speaking to them in their own time.

Acolytes (Altar Servers) assist the presider at the altar.

Extraordinary Ministers of  Holy Communion enable the assembly to unite themselves with Christ, and with one another, by assisting with the distribution of the Body and the Blood of Christ during the communion rite.

Ministers of Hospitality represent the entire assembly in creating a welcoming atmosphere for all who come to worship.

    AWAKE Retreat

The AWAKE! Retreat is held early in the fall semester and designed especially for first-year students to meet other new students, explore their faith traditions, and reflect on their hopes and anxieties about their future at Marywood. Facilitated by upper-class Marywood students, this is a fun and meaningful way to begin your college experience.

Finding God in All Things - A Retreat for Busy People

    Early in Spring Semester

This retreat is offered to members of the Marywood community (students, faculty, staff) who desire to be more conscious of the presence of God in the ordinariness of daily life.

Participants commit to one-half hour of personal prayer each day and to one-half hour conversation with a personal spiritual companion who helps you sense the movement of God in your life.

    Search Retreat

A long tradition for Marywood students, SEARCH is offered in the spring semester. Form lasting relationships with current students and alumni who have made this memorable retreat.

Personal stories of God at work in daily life are paired with scripture and discussion, worship, service, and fun.  A great way to meet and make new friends! Sunday evenings in the Swartz Center for Spiritual Life.
