The mission of Housing and Residence Life is to provide a safe, conducive living and learning environment that supports students' academic and personal development goals, while intentionally fostering a sense of community, civic responsibility, and an appreciation for diversity.
Desired Learning Outcomes:
- Students will seek ways to get involved in their residential community.
- Students will interact with others in a civil manner.
- Students will participate in programs planned with their education and social needs in mind.
Residence Directors (RDs) are graduate students enrolled in a Marywood master’s or doctoral degree program.
The Residence Directors oversee the residential areas that make up University Housing. There are currently four Residence Directors at Marywood:
Waleska is the Residence Director for the Woodland Residences. She earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the College of Staten Island, CUNY. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Strategic Leadership and Administrative Studies at Marywood University. Her background includes extensive experience in residential administration, and she is bringing to Marywood her passion for student development.
Sam is the Residence Director of Madonna Hall. Sam earned his Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at SUNY Plattsburgh, where he was also a Resident Assistant for three years. He is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Nutrition and is receiving his internship through the Marywood Dietetics Internship program. Sam's passion is helping people understand that healthy living is attainable at any given time.
John is the Residence Director for Regina Hall. He earned his Bachelor's degree in History with minors in Literature and Professional Writing from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2021. While attending Kutztown, John worked as a Community Assistant for three years. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration with Marywood University.
Joe is the Residence Director of Loughran Hall. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Albright College. While at Albright, Joe was a Resident Assistant for a year and a Lead Resident Assistant for two years. After his undergraduate work, he took a year off from being a student to teach at the high school level. In 2018, he started at Marywood and completed his Master's in Higher Education Administration. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Strategic Leadership and Administrative Studies, while continuing his passion for Student Affairs at Marywood University.
Resident Assistants (RAs) are undergraduate or graduate students selected on the basis of leadership ability, communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills and an expressed interest in developing a sense of community among residents.
