Professional Licensure Disclosures

Marywood University offers several programs that lead to professional licensure in the state of Pennsylvania. Each state and territory have different professional licensure requirements and may also have noneducational requirements like background checks, years of work experience, or evidence of moral character.

Current and prospective students who plan to work and pursue licensure outside of Pennsylvania are strongly encouraged to regularly check the educational requirements with their state licensure board to confirm current licensure requirements. Current and prospective students should also reach out to the program contact at Marywood University with questions.

Licensing board information and program contact information are provided for each state and territory and for each program.

Marywood University makes a good faith effort to keep the licensure information on this website as up to date as possible. Annually in January, licensure information will be reviewed and updated as needed.

Relocation While Enrolled in a Program Leading to Licensure

Prior to relocating, current students should contact their program director to review authorization and licensure requirements and to understand the impact on their educational and career goals.

Current students must complete the appropriate relocation form to update the University records. Please contact the Registrar for assistance or questions related to this requirement.

New York NY has the LCAT which is not solely a music therapy license. It is a creative arts therapy license. The state still does not individually recognize music therapy as a profession in the state. The LCAT is a Master's level license and it is required if one is practicing in mental health. Music therapists who do not work in mental health or use psychotherapy do not need the license. For example, if you work in a school or with developmental disabilities you do not need the LCAT. If you work in mental health settings or the employer requires the LCAT then you would need the LCAT to practice.
