Dr. Nellie Scanlon has earned a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Duquesne University (CACREP Accredited) and an M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. She has over 19 years of experience in the counseling field as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and as a Certified School Counselor. She has worked in high schools, community counseling agencies, a college counseling center, and in her own private practice. In addition, Dr. Scanlon holds credentials as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS).

Dr. Scanlon’s areas of research interest include supervision of counselors in training, professional counseling advocacy, adult development and wellness, and grief and loss. She will be teaching both graduate and undergraduate Counseling courses.

Dr. Scanlon is the current Chair of the North Atlantic Region (NAR) of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and she is a Past President of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association (PCA).
