My love for Marywood continues to grow each and every day! Campus quickly became my second home, thanks to the incredible community and faculty who consistently encourage and support me in all my endeavors. Because of the countless service, academic, leadership, and field opportunities available at Marywood, I am learning to shine my light and become an effective, dynamic educator for my future students!

The time I spent in the Songwriting class was one of my most cherished and important experiences at Marywood University. Dr. Carvalho taught us how to make our own voices heard through music and lyrics, while also understanding how to collaborate with others to express a shared message or musical idea. This culminated in a final project where the entire class came together to produce over a dozen completely original songs, learning extensively about the recording process, working with the industry-standard DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Logic Pro X, arrangement, and performing these songs for others.
The entire class of 20 people from all different majors and walks of life left the class as one collective, and for me personally, I continued to collaborate with several others from the class. Me and 3 of my classmates formed a band that has lasted over two years after the class ended, and we have not only written, recorded, and released original music but have gotten paid to play it for others. I truly believe this would not have been possible without the Songwriting class and what I learned in it.

My experience at Marywood University has been truly meaningful. I’ve enjoyed being part of a diverse community, learning from supportive professors, and receiving continuous help from the International Partnership Program, which always goes above and beyond to support international students. I’m also impressed by the variety of student clubs and activities that help us stay engaged and connected on campus. I’m part of a 1+1 dual-degree program between the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Egypt and Marywood University, where I completed my first year in Egypt and my second year in the U.S. This valuable collaboration offers me a dual degree from two respected universities, which I believe will greatly support my career goals. I also appreciate the university’s strong career services, especially the regular job fairs that give us the opportunity to network and potentially secure internships.

Enrolling in the dual degree program between Marywood and EAN was a great deal for me. As a Colombian, it is an amazing opportunity to learn with people from different cultures while practicing my English. I have met truly admirable people, such as Lori, who is incredibly kind and always ready to help us with whatever we may need; Dr. Ozcan, whose jaw-dropping career background has inspired me; and Dr. Powell, whose amazing passion for learning is truly remarkable. They have all inspired me with ambition and a thirst for growth. I am really thankful for all of the opportunities Marywood has offered me, and I am eager to find out where it will take me.

Prior to enrolling at Marywood University, I pursued a major in Construction Management at another university. Given the limited number of schools offering such a particular program, I was joyful in the fact that Marywood University was among them, especially given the distinguished reputation of its School of Architecture. The Admissions Office and faculty at Marywood created a seamless transition and transfer process. I was reassured of my decision when I found myself quickly forming meaningful connections with professors and achieving notable academic success. Additionally, my involvement with the Women’s Soccer team provided further opportunities to form new relationships and integrate into the family atmosphere Marywood has. I am thrilled to be part of Marywood’s first graduating class in Construction Management.

I have found more than a school with Marywood, I found a home and built relationships that will last. I know I made the right choice by coming to Marywood because I’ve been granted opportunities and experiences that I would never be able to imagine anywhere else. I chose Marywood because of the opportunities I was given as soon as I became a student here (scholarships, financial aid, athletics, as well as the exercise science program) which are all things I was looking for while looking for a college. The professors in the Exercise Science program have also provided an amazing learning experience as well as given opportunities for tremendous growth. I have landed multiple internships through the connections as well as a job after graduation.

Marywood has truly helped me grow into a person I can be proud of. I've had countless opportunities to figure out who I am as a leader and learn that my voice and ideas matter. My favorite thing about Marywood is just how supportive everyone is and how we all root for one another in our different endeavors.

My three years at Marywood so far have pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to thrive in ways I would have never expected to. Due to my time at Marywood, I am far more confident in my knowledge within nursing, my skills in connecting with others, and providing community outreach. The tight-knit community at Marywood fosters a great environment of strong connections!

Wow, where do I begin! I have been coming to Marywood for as far back as I can remember. The first vivid memory is in the summer from 5th-6th grade, I attended a music camp called Camp Crescendo. Coming from a very talented musical family and such engaging parents, I was always at Marywood throughout grade-school participating in numerous ensembles, classes, and other programs they had to offer. This helped me become acquainted with the lovely and friendly staff and students in the music department here. As I grew up through the North Pocono School District, every hobby I continued my Marywood extracurriculars. My senior year, I was driving to and from Marywood 4 times a week!
When that time in my senior year of high school came and I had to pick a college, it soon became clear that I was a Pacer, and that I had been for quite some time. When I got to my freshman orientation over the summer, I was pleasantly surprised with how many people knew my name and were just calling out "Hi Fred!" A large part of that is much thanks to my older sister, Ellie, who is a year ahead of me here and was on the orientation team that year. Her presence made me feel comfortable right away which led me to be able to be myself immediately. I met my roommates and some life long friends in just the one day there, and hit the ground running to start my Freshman year at Marywood. I picked up a work study in the Office of Student Engagement where I met my mentor on this campus who has pushed me and helped me grow more as a person in 2 years than I ever have in my entire life. Now, I am a Student Government Executive, a student athlete with the men's tennis team, have multiple work studies, on the orientation teams, am the commissioner of the Marywood Intramural Basketball League with Ian Kovatch, and am involved in many more amazing areas and groups. My schedule here is jam packed, but it is all things I absolutely love doing and have 0 complaints about.

My favorite thing about Marywood has to be how inclusive and welcoming everyone is. It’s genuinely an amazing feeling knowing you can just be yourself and act natural without having to worry if you’re fitting in. From the moment you become a pacer, everyone is going to accept you into the Marywood family with open arms.

My transfer experience was nothing short of excellent. The admissions officers I spoke to were Tina Menn and Lori Orr and they were both amazing to work with. Tina helped me in the beginning when I first was applying. She answered every question I posed and even suggested a zoom with Professor James Eckler to talk to me about the construction management program. I am so grateful to both Tina and Professor Eckler for taking the time to meet with me on Zoom in the middle of their summer! It really showed me how much they cared about making my experience great from the start and helped me seal the deal with my commitment to Marywood. I spoke with Lori Orr after I was accepted and was lining up my classes. She helped me create a schedule that worked for me and explained all the different options as a transfer regarding general education credits as well as what I needed for my program. Everyone was eager to help me and wanted what was best for me. That's how I knew Marywood was the right choice, everyone here tends to each student personally and making real connections is so easy.

I enjoy my time at Marywood and could not see myself being anywhere else. The small school atmosphere creates a great environment for meeting new people and being not an only recognizable, but known by name by all of your professors. Having the opportunity to go to school at Marywood has been a complete blessing and I have no regrets choosing here for my future.

Marywood has been great to me in my first year of college. I was very nervous at the beginning of the year because I didn’t know what to expect but Marywood made me feel as if I was home. The close knit community makes the whole college experience welcoming and fun. Being a student athlete can be difficult at times but I have made a lot of new bonds that could last a lifetime. I am excited to see what the next 4 years have in store for me!
Miranda Taveras '27
Marywood has an extremely welcoming community, that has allowed me to flourish as a person and discover many true friends. The campus is comfortable and feels home, and the classes have pushed me to be the best student I can. I’m looking forward to the next four years and can’t wait to see what they hold.

I absolutely love Marywood! Everyone is so friendly and I think the community here is really something special!
Sophia Williams '26
I chose Marywood because of the small, friendly campus and the opportunity to be part of the Lacrosse team. I chose to major in Financial Crime Investigation because it seems like an exciting career, giving me the opportunity to solve financial crimes. This career will allow me to make a positive difference in today's society.

Marywood has absolutely changed my life! This university has allowed me to combined all my interests, hobbies and passions into an academic program that is perfect for me. Here at Marywood I have grown in so many ways I did not even realize were possible. I love the wide range of possibilities to grow in my academic life, my personal life and my spiritual life. I am incredibly grateful for the ability to grow and thrive in such a nurturing environment. I feel greatly prepared for the future because of the advising I have received here at Marywood and I am truly proud to be a part of the Marywood community.

I have met amazing people that I am growing close to everyday and that I can trust. I am having a great time learning about my Architecture major and especially in a beautiful building. With Marywood being a smaller school I have been able to have good relationships with my professors. Even after that semester is over I know I can still be able to go to them for help.

Coming to Marywood has allowed me to pursue a higher education, play field hockey at the collegiate level, become involved in clubs, volunteer in community based events, and make lifelong friends. I also am pursuing a minor in Caribbean, Latinx and Latin American Studies. The professors in the Spanish department have been super helpful by guiding me as I prepare to study abroad, and make learning a second language a positive and enjoyable experience.

I love the Music, Theater, Dance department at Marywood. For a small school, we have so many music ensembles and ways to get involved with music. The faculty of this department are supportive and knowledgeable.

Upgrading the program’s environment will provide a new energy to the development as a whole, in the Marywood community. The Nursing Program expansion will bring in a whole new generation of students who will have a bigger and better facility to practice in with state-of-the-art advancement. This will be great for future students!
Ricky Stains '26
I absolutely love Marywood! I appreciate the student-faculty ratio and feel that the professors at Marywood genuinely care about the success and wellbeing of their students. Classes at Marywood are engaging and exciting! University life provides numerous opportunities to grow academically, professionally, and personally.
