As Director of Human Participants Protection and Research Compliance, Courene administers the program protecting the rights and welfare of human participants in research, including operation of the Institutional Review Board and Exempt Review Committee. She manages the education and support of researchers in ethical practices, as well as adherence to federal regulations, laws and University policies.  An alumna of Marywood University, Courene holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design with a concentration in Photography and a Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in Non-Profit Management.  She is a member of Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research and is also a Certified IRB Professional (CIP®) through the organization.


MoonJo Kim

MoonJo is a Graduate Student at Marywood University in the MSDI program. He received his bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences from Rutgers University. Prior to the admission at Marywood, he worked as an insurance coordinator at a private practice and volunteered for the Rutgers Football team as a Sports Nutrition Assistant. He also served in the South Korean Army as an Armed Guard at the General Out Post.

As a Graduate Assistant, MoonJo performs pre-review of all human research submissions. He is available to assist Marywood faculty and students, as well as unaffiliated investigators, with questions about the submission process, required documentation, and utilization of the CITI and IRBNet websites.
