Per Annum Instructor (#212)

Summary of Duties

The Marywood University Department of Psychology and Counseling is seeking a full-time per annum instructor to begin August of 2021 to teach in our Bachelor’s, Master’s, and APA- accredited Psy.D. programs. This position is subject to renewal.

Primary responsibilities are teaching. The teaching load is 4-4. There is also a possibility of being able to supervise clinical work done by graduate students in our Psychological Services Center. This position has a child and adolescent focus but there is the possibility of working on adult-themed topics and clinical work as well. Courses currently expected to be taught are Child Development, Contemporary Approaches to Learning, Introduction to Psychological Testing and Child Psychopathology. Other courses will be assigned based on department needs. Attendance at department meetings is also expected. There is a possibility that the department could provide clinical supervision hours for those who aspire to become licensed as a clinical psychologist.

A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical, counseling, school or child developmental from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education. Candidates who are ABD will be considered.

Work Experience Requirements

Experience teaching at the undergraduate level.

Special Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • The ability to teach a range of courses in Marywood University’s undergraduate psychology program with an area of specialization in child and adolescent topics.
  • Ability to promote Marywood’s mission and core values as they manifest within the field of psychology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach at the graduate level with a specialized focus on child and adolescent clinical issues.
  • Applied experience working with children and/or adolescents.
  • Ability to supervise child and adolescent clinical work.
  • Ability to supervise adult clinical work.
  • Specialized knowledge or training in multiculturalism.
  • Experience with online and hybrid teaching.
  • Experience in scholarship and service to the field of psychology.
