Teaching Young Adults and Children the Value of Saving
November 06, 2018

The University’s Accounting and Finance Club will hold a “Money Matters” workshop at the Boys and Girls Club of Northeastern Pennsylvania on Thursday, November 8, 2018.

During the workshop, Marywood University Accounting and Finance Club student members will teach Boys and Girls Club members (ages 10-14) about the importance of savings and checking accounts, how to start saving once they get their first job, and will lead a budgeting activity.

Earlier this month, the Accounting and Finance Club students hosted a program for Students On-Campus Achieving Results (SOAR) Program, where club members played a Jeopardy Game and taught SOAR students about basic financial planning, checking and savings accounts, budgeting, credit cards, and retirement savings.

The SOAR program at Marywood University is a one-of-a-kind program that encourages independent living and prepares students with autism for competitive employment.

Members of the Accounting and Finance Club and SOAR program include (first row – left to right): Chase Jones, Matthew Earle, Nathan Skrutski, Jared Cornell, Paulina Sadowski, and Joni Host.

Second row (left to right): Matthew Culkin, Craig Marsico, Lauryn Graham, Alisa O’Neill, Corin Pasko, Olivia Olshefski, Jared Taylor, Nicky Mulderig, and Kaleigh Orr.
