The links below can be very useful for the research you may need to perform while completing a proposal, such as statistical data about the region, demonstrated need for certain funding, etc. There are also some helpful links to government funding resources. Statistical Information

National Center for Education Statistics - Education Statistics at a Glance brings together data from several NCES sources including: The Condition of Education, The Digest of Education Statistics, and Projections of Education Statistics.

National Center for Health Statistics - collection of data from birth and death records, medical records, interview surveys, and through direct physical exams and laboratory testing for use in documenting the health status of the population and of important subgroups.

The Pennsylvania State Data Center - Pennsylvania's official source of population and economic statistics. In addition to acting as Pennsylvania's liaison to the Census Bureau, the PaSDC is the state's representative to the Federal-State Cooperative Programs for Population Estimates and for Population Projections.

US Census Bureau - Statistical information about the United States from Census 2000.

Standard and Poor's School Evaluation Services - statistitical information about every school district in Pennsylvania, including academic, financial, and socioeconomic indicators, benchmark comparisons and trends.

BHP Health Professions Shortage Areas - the US Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, Bureau of Health Professions National Center for Health Workforce Analysis develops shortage designation criteria and uses them to decide whether or not a geographic area or population group is a Health Professional Shortage Area or a Medically Underserved Area or Population. More than 34 federal programs depend on the shortage designation to determine eligibility or as a funding preference.

Trend Information and Miscellaneous

The Scranton Times-Tribune and the Times Leader are excellent sources for local information, trends and statistics to support needs statements.

The Chronicle of Higher Education - the academic world's No. 1 source of news and information, including reports on trends and developments in higher education, updates on grant opportunities and statistics from faculty salaries to campus crime rates.
