The Shields Center for Visual Arts also serves Marywood's art students. It has lab space for computer graphics, art history, and art therapy. On the first floor is the Mahady Gallery which has changing exhibits on a monthly basis. All senior art students are required to have an exhibit in the Mahady gallery to fullfill their requirements to graduate. Upstairs is the Suraci gallery which houses Marywood's permanent collection of art along with a display of changing exhibits. The Shrine of Saint Joseph, built in 1936, is located in front of the mirrored windows of the Visual Arts Center. Students commonly find peace, shelter, and a few quiet moments on the steps of this beautiful shrine.
