The Memorial Commons was built on the original site of the IHM Motherhouse. This building was the home to the IHM Congregation and housed the first classrooms of what was then Marywood College. The building burned down in 1971 and the Memorial Commons was constructed in its place and dedicated as a rememberance in 1975. Often professors will hold classes in the Commons when the weather is nice. Other events are also held here, including liturgies, prayer services and theatrical productions.
