The WoodWord Advertising Policy
Policy Statement
- The WoodWord accepts advertising on the recommendation of the Advertising Sales Manager. Approval of ads belongs to the Editor in Chief under the direction and guidance of the Faculty Advisor.
- The persons above may accept or decline advertising as they see fit in accord with the stqndards of the publication, its previously established editorial guideline, and with the context of the mission and goals of the University.
- Advertising is only accepted if it is camera ready, or if the advertiser is willing to pay a predetermined fee established each year for typesetting and/or design.
- Advertising fees are waived upon the recommendation of the Advertising Sales Manager, and with the approval of the Editor in Chief under the direction and guidance of the Faculty Adviser. Examples of waivers would be ads for on-campus events or University departments.
- Advertising content is the sole responsibility of the advertiser. The ad is accepted and placed or rejected by the above designees. Reasons for rejection may include among other: untimely submission, the amount of production work required, or lack of congruence with the creative and ethical guidelines of the publication, the Student Government Association or of the University. Additionally, The WoodWord reserves the right to reject ads for non-payment.
- Since The WoodWord is funded by the Student Government Association, the paper must indicate its ties to the University without implying that advertising is placed with the approval of the University, or that the University endorses those activities, products or services.
- Changes to this policy may be initiated by the Faculty Advisor, if they prove to be unworkable or insufficient to provide guidance to the students involved. They must be approved, however, by the Chief Academic Officer of the University. Such policies may also be altered by the Executive Officers of the University should they prove to be insufficient to support the mission and strategic direction of Marywood University.
