Health Insurance Continuation Coverage

Policy Statement

In certain instances where health insurance coverage may be terminated, Marywood University offers employees and their families the opportunity for a temporary extension of health coverage at group rates under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).

The employee and his or her family have many rights and obligations under the COBRA law.  For example, the employee and/or a family member has the responsibility to inform the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources of the “qualifying event” in order to obtain coverage.

Procedures

Detailed information on COBRA rights and benefits is available from the Human Resources Department.
