Policies in Process of Development or Revision

The process for policy development is outlined in the statement titled Policy Development, Approval, and Dissemination. The following logs track the progression of proposals for new policies, or revision or repeal of existing ones, toward formal approval and dissemination.

Intellectual Property


Intellectual Property

January 29, 2004 – A proposed Intellectual Property policy was presented to the Academic Council.

February 24, 2004 – A revised draft of the proposal was discussed at the Academic Council meeting.

March 25, 2004 – It was reported to the Academic Council that a meeting had been held with two college Policy and Operations committees. The addition of information to deal with science grants was discussed.

May 18, 2004 – A draft will be on the agenda of the first Faculty Senate meeting of Fall 2004.

August 25, 2004 – The Academic Council reviewed changes regarding significant use of University resources, intellectual property law and future procedures, and noted the proposal would be on the agenda of the next Faculty Senate meeting.

November 12, 2004 – Concerns from the Faculty Senate were reviewed by the Academic Council.

December 3, 2004 – The final draft of the proposal was sent to the Secretary of the University for editing and formatting, and for moving it to the next step of the policy development process.

December 9, 2004 – The Secretary of the Univesrity sent the proposal with two minor editing suggestions to the President of the University for first executive review.

March 10, 2005 – The President of the University notified the Secretary of the University that the proposal was ready to go to the agenda of the Executive Committee of policyl.

March 22, 2005 – The Executive Committee acted to place the proposal on the agenda of the April 1 Policy Committee meeting. The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs will be invited to the Policy Committee meeting on April 1.

April 1, 2005 - The Policy Committee of the University discussed the proposal. There was consensus that more time was needed to review the proposal. Action was deferred until Fall 2005.

NEXT STEP - The proposal will come forward again after further review and possible update.
