Equipment Circulation

Faculty may request instructional technology equipment delivery for classroom support by calling x2429 or 6271.

In order for faculty users to have confidence that requested items will be available, reservations should be received at least one full working day prior to delivery time.

Students requesting equipment for coursework need a signed faculty authorization form to borrow any equipment from I-Tech Services.

Overhead projectors are located in all classrooms on campus, and most classrooms are equipped with a permanently mounted TV/VCR unit. Our inventory includes the following equipment:

Overhead projectors are located in most classrooms on campus.

Media Services has several CD "Boom boxes" available for Faculty use only. These items must be signed out at the I-Tech Services Desk and may not be delivered to classrooms for security purposes.

 

 

Slide projectors, slide trays (carousels) and remotes can be delivered to classrooms or signed out at our desk. Glass slide trays are available for art slides, which may be signed out through our neighbors in Technical Processing in the Library.

 

 

Video camcorders are available for faculty, staff and student use. All users must first make arrangements for a training on the equipment with I-Tech Services technicians (x 2429 or x 6271) before signing out the equipment. Faculty who are trained can have the camcorders set up in their classrooms. As with any equipment, students must have a signed authorization form from a faculty member in order to reserve a camcorder. The normal loan period for camcorders is 24 hours---extended periods must be approved by Kathy Lewis; Coordinator of Technical & Instructional Support, x 2339.

 

 

The Document Camera is a modern version of an overhead projector with a video camera mounted at the top of the unit. It is used to display any printed material, slides, negatives or any 3-D object that can fit on the base and it also allows instructors or students to write on a non-transparent sheet of paper while the class observes.

Mics or Standing mics can be delivered to the conference room areas on campus, e.g., Multipurpose Room, Theater, etc. for campus events that need amplified sound. Generally, mics and sound systems are not delivered to classrooms.

 

 

Video camera use is limited to instructional support only. Videotaping of speakers and presentations can be arranged by calling x2429. Faculty, students and staff must complete a training session prior to personally scheduling use of the video equipment. Students must also have a signed faculty authorization form before they can reserve video equipment. Videotape duplication and off-air videotaping of educational programming is provided within copyright guidelines at a per tape fee.

 

 

Announcements may be submitted in writing to the Instructional Technology Services Director : mic@marywood.edu

A lead time of three working days should be given to submit the messageMessages should be no more than 5 lines in length and should include the title of the event, the date and time, a brief descriptive message and the name and phone number of a contact person.

Announcements from student groups should be signed by an advisor. Each message will run for a two-week period, so please try to plan accordingly.

Arrangements can also be made to run video announcements for special campus events and activities.

All announcements are subject to the approval of the Director and reserves the right to edit copy to fit on screen.

Desktop publishing, overhead transparencies, lamination, engraved signs, banners,certificates, posters and original artwork can be created by our Graphics Department. Appointments for help with visual presentations or special projects should be made in advance with the Graphic Artist (x6273).

 

 

Faculty members may place audiovisual materials on Reserve in I-Tech Services. These materials must then be used in the LRC. They may be viewed in one of our two Preview Rooms. Students may preview: Rooms may be reserved in advance. Usage time may be limited during busy periods. Students can record from tape to tape, as well as CD or LP record to tape. Our facilities also allow students to record their voice for special class projects.
