Search Engine
Infoseek
(http://infoseek.go.com/)
is a very quick and accurate search engine that offers several
field searching options and simplified keyword and phrase searching.
Google
(http://www.google.com/) ranks pages by the number of links from
pages ranked high by the service. The idea here is that a high
quality page will be found and linked to from another high quality
page. Google! is both powerful and easy to use. There are no distracting
advertisements and links found in major search engines.
Google
Scholar (http://scholar.google.com/) indexes a
portion of the scholarly literature. Since Google Scholar is in
Beta, its results may not be complete or current. It is recommended
that Google Scholar be used to supplement searches performed in
the Libraries' Databases
MetaCrawler
(http://www.go2net.com/search.html)
is a good site to try if your topic is obscure or if you want
to retrieve results from a variety of search engines with a single
search statement. This service searches multiple search engines
simultaneously and offers useful search options. MetaCrawler returns
your results in a single list and removes the duplicate files.
