6) How can I get an I-20? What is a letter of financial guarantee?

The United States government requires international students to obtain an I-20 from the prospective school in order to apply for a student visa. The I-20 is the application for the student visa. In order to receive an I-20 from Marywood, you must complete our IEP application, and return it to our office with a non-refundable $500 deposit and application fee. We also need proof of your graduation from high school. In addition, you must submit a letter of financial guarantee from the bank or financial institution of the person who will pay for your studies in the U.S. This letter must indicate that your sponsor has sufficient funds to pay all of your expenses while you are in the United States. We also require the Certification of Finances form (which you can print from our web page) completed and signed by your sponsor. After we receive your application, the deposit, proof of graduation from high school, letter of financial guarantee, and the certification of finances, we will send you the I-20 form.
