    9 x 9 x 3
9x9x3 was organized by the Textile Study Group of New York. The exhibition of 50 contemporary fiber art pieces by the members of the Textile Study Group was curated by Janet Koplos, senior editor of Art in America. The exhibit originally opened at the American Craft Museum in NYC. Each artist produced a work to fit inside a 9"x9"x3" box, a modular format that unifies the spectacularly expressive collection of artwork created in diverse styles and mediums. The works are divided into two main categories: About the World and About the Work. Members' work is regularly reviewed in Fiberarts, Surface Design Journal, American Craft and The New York Times and represented in major museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, American Craft Museum and the Cleveland Art Museum. A color catalog accompanied the exhibit.

ANNE TABACHNICK
Painting about Paintings
Anne Tabachnick was a very highly regarded figure of the New York art scene from the 1960's until her death in 1995. Her successful career, cut short by cancer, continues to attract the attention of serious art lovers as well as other painters. receive critical attention. Tabachnick's work, which is built up very gradually in thin layers of color, deals with a large variety of subjects, but this exhibit will focus on what may have been the heart of her oeuvre: her love of art history and her response to its imagery. All of the works in this show deal in some way with Tabachnick's on-going relationship with the art of the past. Some of the works are very recognizable re-interpretations while others offer less direct homage. The role of artist as perennial student is one which Tabachnick was unafraid of. The exhibit will be on loan from Lori Bookstein Fine Art on E. 78th Street in Manhattan. A color catalog will accompany the exhibit. Mark Webber, exhibit coordinator, will give a gallery talk on Wednesday, April 18th at 2 PM, which is free and open to the public.
