The Commuter Programs website is http://www.marywood.edu/www2/Stu_Life/Stu_Act/commuter/commuter.html
This site is the location for students to learn more about the resources, programs, and services for students who commute. Individuals can find answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), ask other questions, make suggestions, and more.
The Commuter Committee, is a student organization for commuter students. Commuter Committee is a group of commuter students that act as a liaison group between commuter students and the Student Government Association. Our purpose is to be a representative voice of the commuter student body. We address the difficulties commuter students face but more importantly we try to focus on the steps we can take to turn those difficulties into effective solutions. We also help to plan daytime events that are accessible to commuters. Commuter Committee meetings are open to any commuter student who is willing to make suggestions, become more involved at Marywood, and wants to meet and get to know other commuting students. We do not require attendance at meetings so you can attend one, some, or all of the meetings. All meetings will take place in the Fireplace Lounge in the Nazareth Student Center. Please come join us, we would be glad to have you! This is your opportunity to make a difference.
Yes, the commuter student advisor is an advocate for commuter concerns, provides educational programming, and assists in reducing the challenges that commuter students may face. By also working as the advisor to the Commuter Committee, the commuter advisor stays in touch with the needs and the difficulties that commuters are confronted with when attending Marywood University. The commuter student advisor's office can be found in the Center for Student Activities and Leadership Development in the Nazareth Student Center. You may contact the commuter student advisor at 340-6016.
Just as a Resident Assistant, RA, helps resident students transition to college life, a Commuter Assistant, CA, does the same for students who commute. The CAs serve as mentors and resources for first year/transfer students as they adjust to collegiate life.
You may stop into the Center for Student Activities and Leadership Development in the Nazareth Student Center or e-mail commuter@marywood.edu or apaciej@marywood.edu with your question.
Getting involved in student organizations, participating in intramurals, studying with classmates, attend programs hosted on campus, and frequenting the Commuter Lounge are several ways to meet people on campus. You are welcome to stop into the Commuter Lounge in the Woods Café in the Nazareth Student Center or the Center for Student Activities and Leadership Development in the Nazareth Student Center in to learn more about the opportunities available to students.
The Commuter Committee, the Commuter student organization, meets regularly throughout the term. Their meetings are open to everyone to attend. This organization provides an avenue for commuter students to connect with one another. Getting involved in an area of your interest is the key way to meet people and feel a part of campus life!
The Commuter Committee, the Commuter Assistants and the Undergraduate Student Government Association plan and sponsor events geared toward commuter students. These events are open to all Marywood community members. Notification happens via listerv e-mails, posters/fliers around campus and in the Commuter Lounge, and the website calendar. You may always call 570-340-6016 or visit Student Activities page for more information.
For campus-wide events, visit the Student Life web page calendar.
If you are looking for information about a specific student group, visit the student organization directory or call the Center for Student Activities & Leadership Development at 570-340-6016 to get contact information.
