The City
of Scranton
|
Scranton, Pennsylvania,
is a city with a rich ethnic heritage. Although
small in size, Scranton was one of the most
important mining and industrial centers in the
Northeast. Students can enjoy hiking, canoeing, and
fishing in the local state parks.
A national symphonic orchestra and museums
contribute to a lively cultural scene. The minor
league baseball team Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees plays to roaring crowds of fans.
Scranton has easy access to several major American
cities. Travel time to New York City and
Philadelphia is only two hours; to Washington, DC,
four hours; and to Boston, five hours. |
