Estefania Ponti is a Cultural Anthropology doctoral candidate at The Graduate Center (CUNY) and an adjunct lecturer in the department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work at the College of Staten Island (CUNY). She is currently conducting her doctoral fieldwork with student veterans at the City University of New York. Estefania’s doctoral research focuses on veterans who have served during the War on Terror, asking how the current militarization of the U.S. has redefined and reshaped notions of gendered citizenship. Along with her academic research, Estefania has engaged in national policy research, serving as the Policy Research Associate for Service Women's Action Network (SWAN), a non-profit human rights organization that works to improve the welfare of U.S. service women and women veterans. Estefania received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College, City University of New York and a Masters of Philosophy in Anthropology from The Graduate Center, City University of New York.
