COL Michael A. Konzman



Colonel Michael A. Konzman is a native of Northeast Pennsylvania, having grown up in Vandling.  He is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and the University of Scranton.  He was commissioned an Infantry Officer in the United States Army from the University of Scranton ROTC Program in 1983.  Colonel Konzman’s active duty experiences include a tour of duty in Germany with the 1st Infantry Division and a tour of duty at Ft Bragg with the 82nd Airborne Division.  He left active duty in March of 1989, returned to Northeast Pennsylvania and joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as the Training Officer/S3 Air of 1st Battalion (Mechanized) 109th Infantry.

Colonel Konzman commanded the 1st Battalion (Mechanized) 109th Infantry in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Al Anbar Province from July 2005 through June 2006.

Colonel Konzman’s military duties have included assignments as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Heavy Mortar Platoon Leader, Infantry Company Executive Officer, Infantry Company Commander, Battalion S3, Battalion Executive Officer, Battalion Commander, Brigade Executive Officer and Brigade Deputy Commander.  He currently serves as the Commander of the 55th Armored Brigade Combat Team.

Colonel Konzman is a graduate of the US Army Airborne School, the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Infantry Officer’s Advance Course, the Command and General Staff Course and the United States Army War College.  COL Konzman has a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies.

Throughout his 30+ years of military service, Colonel Konzman has been the recipient of many awards to include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Bronze Star.

Colonel Konzman currently resides in Lenox Township, Susquehanna County with his wife, Gloria of 28 years.  He has a son Brian and a daughter Kathleen.
