Important Announcements

May Workshop Calendar: The current calendar of offerings for faculty, staff and students is available. NOTE: Certain sessions are designed for specific audiences. If you are unsure if one is for you, please contact us for more information.

Computer Lab Hours: Most computer labs will close at the end of business on May 7th. The Learning Resources Center lab and McGowan labs will, however, be open on a limited basis until Summer I Session begins.

Computer Training and User Support at Marywood University provides one-on-one and group training in a variety of computer applications including e-mail and the Web, word processing, desktop publishing, data analysis, spreadsheets and database management. The department offices, a training alcove, and an assistive technology computer lab are housed on the third floor of the Learning Resources Center.

Computer Training and User Support also provides support and assistance to those using the various computer labs on campus. These labs can be found in each major classroom building (Liberal Arts Center, Center for Natural and Health Sciences, Center for Performing Arts, Studio Arts Center, Visual Arts Center, Center for Healthy Families, McGowan Center). Computer assistance is generally available in these labs whenever a semester is in session.

Most labs are available on a drop-in basis whenever they are not reserved for classes (reserved class hours are posted either inside or directly outside the lab). Applications include Microsoft Office (an integrated suite which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, FrontPage, Outlook), Firefox, SPSS, PhotoShop, Visual Basic, Visual C++, and other specialized software in the various disciplines. All labs have access to laser printers and scanners. Many have zip and CD-RW drives. A more complete listing of software and hardware is available on our Facilities Page.

Specifically, Computer Training and User Support provides the following services to Marywood faculty, staff and students:

  • Hands-on workshops available on a first-come, first-served basis (space is limited so reservations are required). Workshop calendars are distributed throughout campus at the beginning of each month. The current calendar can also be found on our Workshops Page.
  • A "first line of defense" Help Desk service for reporting technical problems or asking software questions (call 570-340-6070 or email helpdesk@marywood.edu).
  • Consultation and one-on-one training in using supported software and developing computer-enhanced curriculum materials.
  • Consultation and one-on-one training on research design, data analysis and the overall use of statistical packages.
  • In-class demos on any specific area of campus-supported software (prior consultation required).
  • Specialized group trainings on any specific area of campus-supported software in support of faculty development initiatives (prior consultation required).
  • Specialized group trainings for offices on any specific area of campus-supported software (prior consultation required).
