Student Handbook: Library Services

The Library's collection includes more than 250,000 volumes, 50,000 non-print items, and access to over 30,000 journals.  An online catalog provides holdings and availability information for the collection.  The catalog and numerous electronic databases are remotely accessible via the Internet from the Library's web page.  The electronic databases include those that provide full-text sources, abstracts, and indexes.  Among the many databases are Academic Search Elite, ARTstor, eBook, ERIC, Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, JSTOR, Lexis-Nexis, New York Times, PsycINFO, and Science Direct.  Cooperative agreements with regional libraries also greatly expand access to library materials beyond Marywood holdings.  The Library is a member of the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI). Through PALCI's E-Z Borrow, students can borrow directly from millions of titles owned by member libraries throughout the state.  Through the RapidILL interlibrary loan initiative, students can have electronic articles delivered directly to their e-mail boxes usually within a few hours of placing a request online.  Students may stay abreast of Marywood Library happenings through Facebook.  Marywood collections may also be browsed by using the BookMyne application on an iPhone.
Traditional library services, such as interlibrary loan and reference assistance, are available electronically 24 hours a day, seven days a week, via the Library's web page.
